Interesting ideas about Companion level games, and it is interesting that you are trying to create a set of old-school Companion rules from scratch. I admit I have been lazier, in that I took Mentzer's Companion Rules as the starting point and then modified or dropped things I didn't like, and perhaps added a few things as well.
ReplyDeleteMentzer's Companion Set rules are great, and I'm going to make some of the same decisions that he did. But you're right, my approach is to take from OD&D + supplements, and will sometimes vary with what Frank did.
